The need to meet and exchange ideas at the level of professional and social contacts is a natural method of expanding our experiences and drawing satisfaction from our work. Through our personal contacts, we facilitate our professional operations which take a major part of our lives. In the 1970\u2019s and 1980\u2019s, that role was played by several-day long conferences of the mineral extraction businesses organized by Mr. Grzegorz Kortas. The conferences were held in Wieliczka (1974), Bogusz\u00f3w (1975), Skubarczewo (1976), Wapno (1978), Lw\u00f3wek \u015al\u0105ski (1979), Grzyb\u00f3w (1980), Rabka (1983), Zakopane-Murowaniec (1984) and Bystra-Szczyrk (1985). Our meetings consisted in the presentation of mining issues by the respective host companies supplemented by papers, mine field trips and dinners.<\/p>

That tradition could be continued in new conditions after political transformations in Poland by a society of people associated with the Polish salt mining. The conception and specification of by-law assumptions was formulated by Mr. Grzegorz Kortas, the future first President of the Polish Salt Mining Association. Late in 1990 and early in 1991, Mr. Janusz W\u00f3jcik prepared our By-laws. Another step was to identify a founding group. The group consisted of the persons representing various professional specialties (7 salt miners, 5 surveyors, 5 geologists, 1 electronic engineer and 1 computer engineer), and companies (7 from research and development centres, 8 from mining companies and 4 retired salt miners). They elected the Founding Committee on 8 October 1991, charging the members with Association incorporation and registration.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The goal of establishing our Association was primarily to integrate the salt mining community by holding annual meetings, presentation of scholarly achievements which could be implemented in mining practice, propagation of technical issues of the Polish mining companies, and formulation of the Association\u2019s opinions on important issues of the Polish salt mining industry and business. It was assumed that our Association would rely mainly on the support kindly offered by mining corporations and other industry businesses.<\/p>

Our Association was entered in the Register of Associations on 4 December 1991 upon the Decision of the Regional Court in Krak\u00f3w. The first General Meeting was convened on 24 February 1992 and it elected the first Board.<\/p>

Practically, open meetings of the Association members became the main form of activity. Each of them was devoted to current issues of the salt industry.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
