To whom it may concern,

 

The Polish Salt Mining Association (PSGS), acting jointly with the Kłodawa Salt Mine S.A. as our Symposium Host, are inviting you to participate in the XXVII “Quo Vadis Sal” International Salt Symposium to be held at the Kłodawa Salt Mine and the Uniejów Castle on 11-13 October 2023.

  • Rock Salt Tectonics
  • Salt-dome tectonics
  • Stratiform and folded salt-deposit tectonics
  • Underground Storage and Deposition Facilities in Salt Deposits
  • Importance of salt in energy security: hydrocarbon storage in caverns; modern storage-facility construction methods, storage safety measures and operation
  • Green energy: cavern storages in salt deposits as energy accumulators (hydrogen and air storage facilities).

  • Geological, mining, and environmental hazards accompanying salt extraction

IV. Forms of Presentations

  • Conference Paper (up to 15 minutes + discussion)
  • Announcement (up to 5 minutes)
  • Poster (119 x 84 cm; A-0 format)

 

Please prepare your presentations either in the form of abstracts (3-5 pages long, including figures) or full papers (MS Word, Times Roman 12 pts., with basic formatting), drafted in accordance with the Guidelines for Authors, published on the PSGS website (Salt Review), and send them to:

Papers and Abstracts (short papers) will be published in Salt Review 2023.

V. Important Dates

Until 30 April 2023 – submission of Paper/Abstract Authors’ Names and Titles

Until 30 June 2023 – submission of Papers and Abstracts

Until 31 August 2023 – Symposium participation declaration and fee payment deadline

 

VI. Fees  

  • 1500 zł – standard fee
  • 1000 zł – for PSGS members (including paid contributions until 2023).
  • 750 zł – one paper reader if the Paper or Abstract (Short Paper) has been submitted for print in the Salt Review before the deadline
  • 600 zł – students, retired salt miners, and merited PSGS members
  • Participants from Ukraine: exempted

 

The Symposium fee covers the following: Conference Proceedings, admission to paper and poster sessions, coffee breaks, 2 lunches, 2 dinners, and 2 Kłodawa underground Salt Mine Trips.

VII. Participation Declarations

Exclusively by filling in the form published on the PSGS website, available since 15 February 2023.

VIII. Transportation and Accommodation

  • Polish and foreign travellers departing from or returning to Kraków may take our low-cost trip by coach (Kraków-Kłodawa-Kraków).

Departure from Kłodawa on Saturday, 14.10.2023, ca. 07.30 p.m.

 

  • Travel details from Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław, or Poznań to Kłodawa and Uniejów will be published in our Second Circular.
  • Please book hotel rooms on your own, close to the Zamek Uniejów (Uniejów Castle) or Termy Uniejów (Thermal Baths in Uniejów).
