XVII International Salt Symposium “Quo Vadis Sal” – POST-EXPLOITATION DEVELOPMENT OF MINING WORKINGS IN SALT DEPOSITS

The 17th International Salt Symposium from the Quo Vadis Sal series was held in Krakow and Wieliczka on October 11-13, 2012 under the slogan "Post-mining development of mining excavations in salt deposits". The conference was co-organized by the Polish Salt Mining Association, Wieliczka Salt Mine S.A. and Research and Development Center for Chemical Raw Materials Mining Chemkop Sp. z o. o.

The conference was attended by 140 people from 44 institutions and companies from Poland and abroad - from Germany, Belgium, Ukraine and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The papers presented in several thematic sessions concerned the leading topic - post-mining use of workings and geological, hydrogeological and mining conditions of the mine in Wieliczka, as well as other issues related to salt mining.

During the Saturday trip along the new, opened in September 2012, underground tourist route in the Wieliczka Salt Mine S.A., symposium participants could learn about the daily work of a miner in the mine, methods and tools for mining and transporting salt, as well as curiosities of the geological structure and forms of securing excavations
